Last year, before the start of the ICC World Cup 2011, the Pakistani cricket team toured New Zealand to play the bilateral series.
The Green Shirts also played the 6-match ODI series against the home side under the captaincy of the 31-year-old all-rounder, Shahid Afridi.
Pakistan won the ODI series by 3-2 convincingly, which set boosted the side’s confidence before the start of the World Cup.
Though, the Men in Green performed tremendously against the Kiwi side throughout the ODI series, in the 3rd match at AMI Stadium, Christchurch the visiting team completely out classed New Zealand courtesy to Afridi’s splendid knock.
The Pakistani batsman shattered the opponents’ bowlers completely, which stunned New Zealand’s crowd at that time.
As we know when Boom Boom Afridi accelerates the scoring momentum, he hammers the bowlers all over the ground, he did exactly same during the Christchurch ODI.
The hard-hitting batsman scored one of the fastest ODI’s fifties. He completed his fastest fifty on just 19 balls against New Zealand with the help of cracking shots.
Afridi was right on the money with his batting at that day, as he did not respect Kiwi bowling line up at all, and played the way he usually plays. The aggressive batsman scored 65 runs on 25 balls with the help of 5 sixes and 5 boundaries.
