Pakistan’s former President General Pervez Musharraf

It is the game of Politics that was played in the reign of Zulfiqar Bhutto and General Zia ul Haq and the same game was played during the reign of Nawaz Sharif and General Musharraf. In both cases the civil governments were overthrown by the Military dictators.
Born on 11th August 1943, Pervez Musharraf is a very much controversial figure in the history of Pakistani rulers and Pakistan Army due to the happening of the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti and the incident of Lal Masjid in which innocent students along with some extremist elements were killed and it all went against Musharraf and currently Supreme Court has issued the arrest warrants against General Musharraf and his Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz which is stopping Musharraf to coming back to Pakistan and participate in active politics.
Musharraf remained 13th Chief of Army Staff starting from October 1998 till November 2007 and he also held the position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from 1998 to 2001. He was a four star general. As an army general he performed well and won many laurels as he was also a member of Special Services Group of Pakistan Army but as a politician he became a much controversial figure in the history of Pakistan. He has also a label of being a secular person on him.
General Musharraf led the controversial Kargil Operation and also is held responsible for the killing of many Pakistani Soldiers while retreating from Kargil.  Musharraf toppled the government of his benefactor Mr. Nawaz Sharif in 1999 and put the prime minister under a very strict house-arrest and then transferred him to Adiala Jail. But on the intervention of the Saudi Government and many other leaders he was sent to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in exile where he remained for 8 years subsequently returning to Pakistan under NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance).
National Economy was restored to an extent after putting Shaukat Aziz as Finance Minister. The 9/11 episode occurred in his regime while he sided with America in an attack against Taliban. He succeeded Mr. Rafique Tarar as the president of Pakistan in 2001. He appoint3ed M. Zafarullah Jamali as Prime Minister in 2002 and in his resignation in 2004 he again appointed Mr. Shaukat Aziz as prime minister and surrendered the power of the Chief Executive . And then came the episode of deposing the chief Justice in 2007 and again in 2008 he fell from the presidency and opted to go to exile fearing his impeachment. Currently he is in London and he has charges on him of the involvement in the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti and Benazir Bhutto. People are still waiting for the outcome of the arrest warrants and his return to Pakistan.
