Zubaida Aapa – The Legend in the Households of Pakistan

Very few people gain such great popularity which Zubaida Tariq or more precisely Zubaida Aapa has earned in Pakistan. She belongs originally to Hyderabad of India but after partition her family settled in Karachi. She belongs to a literary Urdu-speaking family in which there are many great names like Fatima Surayya Bajia who is a very famous playwright and novelist, Zehra Nigha who is well known for her poetry, Anwar Maqsood who has been ruling the TV screen with his popular style of social satire and his writings and humorism, Bilal Maqsood who is her nephew and a famous vocalist and guitarist and performs for "Strings" Band.

Zubaida was married to her first cousin namely Tariq Hussain and this was an arranged marriage initiated by Mr. Tariq's parents. Interestingly at the time of her marriage she did not even to cook plain rice. But today she is known for her delicious recipes and solutions for domestic issues relating to health, stain removing, nutrition, maternity issues, hair fall and many other issues faced by most of the women in our society. She did not know cooking in the start of her life but gradually she started cooking and people started admiring the taste in her hands. On TV she started her career when most of the people think about retiring. His husband used to work with Lever Brothers and interestingly when he retired she got an opportunity to work with Lever Brothers leading their Dalda Advisory Service.

Another contribution of Zubaida Aapa is that she made things cheaper for Pakistani Women. She introduced all in one Masala which could be used for different dishes.She gave solutions to many household problems and helped in saving many things from going to waste. Currently her program Handi on Masala TV is very popular having been broadcast in more than 300 episodes.

According to Zubaida Aapa the most memorable days of hers was when she became the mother of a child and she realized the beauty of the world. Zubaida aapa has gone to London, Dubai and Egypt more than one time. Zubaida Aapa's favorite flowers are Jasmine, Motia and Raat ki rani and her favorite colors are Off-White and Black.

We hope to see Zubaida aapa on TV many, many more times.
