Though cricket is not the national game of both the countries; India and Pakistan but it is the game that the people of both countries are passionate about. It is the most popular sport and is watched with huge interest and enthusiasm in these countries. Among sport rivalries, India-Pakistan cricket rivalry is the most fervid and sadistic.

In every match players of both teams are under fervent pressure to win because they are well aware of the fact that their defeat is unacceptable to their fans and they will have to face extreme reactions in case of defeat. Intense reactions of the fans of the losing team have been seen in past years. Whether it is ICC Cricket World Cup or T-20 World Cup violence, fuss and public disturbances by the fans of the losing team have been recorded. When it comes to face-to-face encounters on the cricket pitch both teams cannot stand each other and winning becomes a matter of national pride. Sledging and exchange of verbal slaying between the players is mostly seen in Pak-India cricket matches due to which most of the times the players are punished by the referees.

After Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 no bilateral series have been played between both teams but India and Pakistan will resume cricket rivalry in the upcoming series consisting of three ODIs and two T20 matches from December 25 to January 6. Pakistani team will be hosted for the first time since 2007. Both teams know this well that neither country digests a loss against the other so they will try their level best to outlast the other. Hopes are high that spectators will get to see some good cricket after long time. Such kinds of cricket tours are required to re-live the sport and to promote a healthy atmosphere of brotherhood and compatibility between both countries.
