Facebook, Youtube, Yahoo, MSN, Orkut, etc. and many other web based social networking tools available on the web has strongly gripped the world especially the young generation. They have their own features and impacts, positive and negative. I know how I use Facebook and Youtube etc. and similarly every person uses them according to his own needs and priorities.

It's the use of these sites which makes them positive or negative, but one thing has been observed that when good and bad both are emanating from one thing majority of the people and especially the young ones are more vulnerable to the risk of negative and time wasting activities due to their immature and inexperienced minds.

Earlier the people were indulged in messengers like yahoo, msn, Google talk etc. but normally it involved conversation between two persons and exchange of photos and videos was not so frequent, but with the arrival of social networking sites it's possible to share photos and videos rapidly.

The saddest and most unfortunate aspect of these social networking sites especially the Facebook that it has been used to hurt the feelings of more than one billion Muslims in the world. Even the Wikipedia and many other sites are involved in publishing the caricatures of the most noble personality of this universe, our dearest and most honored Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him).

Now after this blasphemy, all the Muslims should have stopped using the Facebook, Wikipedia and Youtube, but this could not happen. Now I appeal to my brothers and sisters all over the world that if they at cost want to use these social sites, they should fill these sites with the message of Islam and with the praise of our Holy Prophet (Peace be Upon him).

We all know that with the advent of new technologies and globalization the definition of communication and information sharing has changed drastically. One such area of drastic growth is social networking – courtesy social media sites like FaceBook, Twitter, MySpace, Orkut etc. Whosoever has some knowledge of the Internet seems to be hooked to these sites. In such a case, can celebrities be left behind? The answer is of course a “NO.”

Celebrities such as actors, sportsperson, politicians and public figures all seem to have an account in one or more of the popular social networking sites. While some of them might not be genuine, a majority of them are real. In fact, celebrities on FaceBook and Twitter have a huge fan following. Celebrities find these sites a novel way of engaging and interacting with fans, a tool for promoting themselves and in some cases, to get quick and effective feedback about themselves or their works. Moreover, a lot of mobile applications of today come with inbuilt software to connect to these sites so that both the user and the follower are always in touch with each other.

It is therefore, not surprising, that our own Pakistani celebrities haven’t been left behind.
