COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) began its operations in 1998, and setup its first campus at Islamabad in April 1998. It was given the status of Degree Awarding Institute through enacting its charter in August 2000,  The main campus is based at Islamabad and there are other 6 campuses at Abbottabad, Lahore, Sahiwal, Wah, Attock and Vehari besides there are other campuses in various planning stages. There is also a plan in pipeline to open an overseas campus in the Gulf.

Comsats is about to be transformed into a university by adopting a resolution and legislating in the parliament.

After Islamabad, The campus of Lahore is among the top most in all the campuses.

Karachi University is one of the leading universities of world. It is stretched over 1200 acres of land. It was established as a federal university in 1951. In 1962 its status was changed to a university of Province Sindh.  Its first Vice Chancellor was Prof. A. B. A. Haleem.  There are more than 800 teachers and 2500 attached staff working in the university. There are total 53 departments and 20 sophisticated research centers and institutes and eight faculties of Islamic Studies, Arts, Science, Pharmacy, management and, Law, Administrative Sciences, Education and Medicine.
Presently the total number of regular students  is over 24,000.

Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination has been established primarily as a trust building measure between the provinces and launching various joint projects and promote education, remove unemployment and introduce our youth to the new vistas of opportunities of employment and modern education.
Recent admissions of MBBS, BDS in the medical colleges of Bangladesh for Pakistani students is also an initiative in this regard. Education has no boundaries or limits. Pakistani students are getting modern education in various sectors in the universities and colleges of US, UK, Canada, Newzeland, China, Bangladesh and many other countries.
There are many mutual economic and social projects being undertaken under the banner of Inter Provincial cabinet division and it is hoped that it will make much difference in the coming years.
